Q & A with Kailynn Bowling of ChicBlvd.com

Don't you just love finding out about fabulous projects started by women, that inspire women? Kailynn Bowling and Nikki Gutshall are the founders of ChicBlvd.com - a girlfriend's guide to the road of life. They launched the site in March 2005. In a brief Q and A Kailynn fills us in on how they got started:

Q: What made you decide to start ChicBlvd?
A: Nikki and I started brainstorming ideas for a business when I was pregnant with my first child. We had no idea what we were going to create - we just knew we wanted a women's based business. We wanted a company that was unique and that shared our common feelings. As one of us is single and dating, and the other is married with a child, we discovered that there was a resource lacking for our life stages. We set out to become exactly what we’ve always looked for - ChicBlvd.com is full of insightful tips and relevant advice. The site provides resources that one would generally only hear about from her closest girlfriend.

Q: How did you come up with the name ChicBlvd?
A: We came up with girlfriends guidance for the road of life as the initial concept. Then we started to try out street signs (Drive, Avenue, Blvd). ChicBlvd stuck - and the rest is history.

Q: What will visitors find?
A: ChicBlvd sends out two weekly newsletters: Guidance and CrossRoads (one is informational and one is a contest through which subscribers have a chance to win a prize each week). ChicBlvd seeks out new unique sites weekly and creates fun interactive contests. We enjoy sharing our girlfriends guidance and we believe in giving back to the community through charities like Compassion International - where we sponsor a little girl from Ecuador.

Q: Any tips for others who want to start a website?
A: Research, Research, Research! Your website is the first impression to the world about your company. Be creative and unique in your design. Ask yourself, what do you like to see when you visit other sites? Use these elements to start designing your own unique concept.

Q: Any words of wisdom for women who are waiting for their boyfriend to pop the question?
A: Ask Him! Communication is key. By asking him you'll know where you stand - and maybe he just needs a nudge in the right direction to get down on one knee to ask YOU!

TRuEStyle SF

I was recently on the phone with a friend who was having a mini-fit because she was supposed to be at a work event and instead she was still at home rummaging through her closet.  She said words that could have been straight from Teresa Kuhl's TRuEStyle site, "I have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear!"

I stayed on the phone with her until she found the pants and the button down that would fit the occasion.  She said, "I don't ever know what I'm supposed to wear to these work-things" so I told her about Teresa, a wardrobe expert.

After being inspired by TLC's TV Show "Clean Sweep" my friends added "Clean Sweep the Closets" to their 2006 resolutions lists.  We stuck to the rule - that if it had not been worn in six months to a year - it gets tossed to the donation pile.  It took a couple trips to drop off my clothes at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop.  And, when it was time to update some things, I kept Teresa's words in mind, that it's better to "have 30 fabulous pieces of clothing in the closet than 80 items that don’t fit..."  With Teresa's tips - I was able to get organized and have already checked off that new year's resolution.

TRuEStyle is offering 15% off the first consultation to HCF visitors (Just mention HisColdFeet when setting your appointment). To learn more about TRuEStyle, visit www.TRuEStyle.com

Q & A with Doug Gordon, author of "The Engaged Groom"

I've been hearing from women who have made it through 'pre-engagement limbo' and are now engaged (to guys with cold feet gone warm) - Yet disappointed because their fiances aren't showing enthusiasm or interest in the wedding plans.  They tell me, "You should see him dragging his feet around Crate and Barrell picking out dishes."  In a recent Q and A on HisColdFeet.com Doug Gordon, author of "The Engaged Groom" shares how grooms-to-be can get more involved with planning "the big day."  His new book wil be out January 1st, but can be pre-ordered through Amazon and other on-line bookstores.
